Projects related to sports aerodynamics are all about performance. In every type of race, aerodynamic drag limits the maximum performance of the athlete or team, and therefore optimizing aerodynamics is important. Among other fields, this is typically relevant for cycling, skating, car racing, boat racing, swimming, etc.
At Actiflow, we design new or improved sports materials and we optimize the athlete interaction. Our work mainly starts with flow simulations to identify opportunities and find design improvements. If necessary, we scan athletes to include them in our simulation models and to visualize the flow around them. As such, we can design or optimize equipment for lowest drag and highest performance.

Indoor Skydive
One specific niche sector in sports aerodynamics is indoor skydiving. In this sector, we develop very efficient wind tunnel designs for maximum fun and minimal energy consumption.
We are not a turn-key supplier of skydive wind tunnels, but we can deliver a wind tunnel design which is proven to be among the best in the world. Feel free to test our work in City Skydive Utrecht (NL), a tunnel which is built according to our design.
Using our knowledge in aerodynamics, we can also develop customized wind tunnel designs. If the tunnel needs to be part of an existing building, or if you just want the tunnel to be different from all the rest, then we are your partner!
Next to the design, we can help you to select and source all tunnel components like fans, electronics, glass for the flight chamber, etc. We can even deliver the software used by the operator to control the fans and to monitor the performance of the tunnel.
In this sector, we both work for turn-key suppliers that ask us to evaluate their new tunnel designs and we work directly for founding partners/entrepreneurs that want to build their own indoor skydiving center. For entrepreneurs, working with us instead of hiring a turn-key supplier might require some more involvement, but in return, the quality of the tunnel will be higher, and the total investment cost will be lower.
