New built Juliana van Stolberglaan

Engineering agency LBP|SIGHT and Re·Shape Properties asked Actiflow to give insight in the wind climate near the buildings

Reshape Properties is the commercial cornerstone in the development of new real estate and the redevelopment of existing real estate: director and producer in one. Such a role is also assumed in the new built at the Juliana van Stolberglaan in The Hague.

The location lies in Bezuidenhout close to The Hague central station. The project contains the demolition of an existing office building and the new built of four residential buildings containing approximately 150 apartments.

Engineering agency LBP|SIGHT and Reshape Properties asked Actiflow to give insight in the wind climate near the buildings in an expert opinion. A detailed CFD-study was not required as the buildings are lower than 30 m and the location is ‘sheltered’ as described in NEN8100.

The expert opinion regarding the local wind climate gives insight in:

  • the expected level of wind hindrance and wind danger for pedestrians
  • the usability of entrances subjected to wind gusts
  • the expected wind comfort on balconies and roof terraces

The expert opinion is based on extensive knowledge and experience by Actiflow gathered in similar projects. Especially projects in the The Hague area were used to make a translation to the location at hand.

Using the accumulated knowledge from Actiflow made it possible to reduce risks at a cost-effective level.
