Development of the boundary layer suction (BLS) technology to create more downforce.
During a joint research programme with Ferrari, Actiflow developed its patented boundary layer suction (BLS) technology to be used on a Ferrari car in order to improve the underbody airflow of the car, resulting in more downforce. Actiflow and Ferrari have cooperated during all stages of the design process of the BLS system, ranging from CFD simulations and prototyping to track tests and final product design.
The Ferrari 599XX, equipped with Actiflow’s patented suction system, was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show on 3 March 2009, after a developing period of 3 years. The car serves as a test platform for new innovative techniques.
